BESS liquid cooling units for Australian battery cabinets

A BESS liquid cooling unit is a compact refrigerant chiller that holds a battery cabinet's coolant loop at its set temperature. ToneCooling's units hold the loop steady through hot Australian summers, and you can order them alone or with our battery cold plates and manifolds as one engineered loop.

Supplied by the ToneCooling group from China · Local service from ToneCooling Australia, Carlton VIC

Selection

How is a BESS liquid cooling unit sized?

Heat load

Cell and PCS losses at your worst-case duty cycle, not the average.

Input: duty cycle, C-rate

Site ambient

Chiller capacity drops as ambient rises, so we size at your peak summer design temperature.

Input: design ambient

Power source

If you have an auxiliary AC supply we use the LAC series. If you take power from the DC bus we use the LDC520V.

Input: auxiliary supply

Loop match

We match flow and pump head to the cold plate and manifold pressure drop in one CFD model.

Output: matched loop
One loop, one supplier

Can the chiller, manifolds and cold plates come from one supplier?

Most cabinet cooling problems turn up at the interfaces: a pump that can’t overcome the plate pressure drop, or a chiller sized for the wrong inlet temperature. When we supply the whole loop, those interfaces are designed and tested together.

  • Battery module cold plates: aluminium, CAB or FSW. BESS cold plates
  • PCS cold plates: vacuum-brazed, for IGBT and SiC modules. Power electronics
  • Manifolds and loop sub-assemblies: built to your cabinet layout. Manifolds
  • Liquid cooling unit: sized to the loop above.

Manufacturing and Australian service

Origin: the ToneCooling group supplies the units from China.

Australian service: ToneCooling Australia Pty Ltd in Carlton VIC handles selection support, AUD quotes, documentation, customs coordination and after-sales.

On-site refrigerant work in Australia must be done by an ARC-licensed technician. Your installer or service partner looks after this.

FAQ

BESS liquid cooling unit questions

Which unit suits a 100–200 kWh commercial cabinet?

It depends on C-rate, PCS losses and site ambient, not just kWh. Send your duty cycle and design ambient, and we confirm the model and the margin at your peak temperature.

Can the unit talk to our BMS or EMS?

Yes. Every model communicates over RS485 or CAN. We provide the protocol document during integration.

We have no auxiliary AC supply in the cabinet. What are the options?

The LDC520V takes power directly from a DC 400–750 V battery bus. It suits off-grid and remote systems where adding an auxiliary AC supply is awkward.

Is the unit suitable for coastal or dusty sites?

The LAC030 and LAC050 are IP54 rated and the LDC520V is IP67. All models have C4 class anti-corrosion protection. For high-ambient remote sites, see mining & remote power.

What is the lead time for a BESS liquid cooling unit?

Prototype units typically ship in 6–8 weeks. Every unit is pressure and leak tested before shipment.

Who is responsible for compliance of the installed cabinet?

We provide the unit documentation: CE and RoHS, test records and the communication protocol. Compliance of the installed battery system stays with the system designer and the licensed installer. The electrical safety compliance pathway for Australia and New Zealand is confirmed per project at quotation.

Size a unit for your cabinet

Send the heat load, the design ambient and your power source. We reply with a recommended model, the capacity margin at your peak temperature and an AUD quotation. If you want the full loop, the cold plates and manifolds are quoted with it.

  • Cabinet heat load (battery + PCS)
  • Peak site ambient
  • Auxiliary AC or DC bus
  • Loop flow and ΔP, if known
