Dry Cooler for Australian Data Centres: TC-DC1000, 1000 kW
TC-DC1000 is a 1000 kW class V-type dry cooler rated at 40 °C ambient, built for liquid-cooled data centres that want to reject heat without evaporative water. It cools 162 m³/h of 30 % ethylene glycol from 55 °C to 49 °C using two aluminium plate-fin V-coils, 10 Ø910 mm fans and built-in circulation pumps.
ToneCooling Australia Pty Ltd supplies the standard model to its datasheet for Australia and New Zealand; options are customised per project.

Why water-free heat rejection matters in Australia
Cooling towers reject heat by evaporating water, and a large data centre can use a significant share of a local water allocation. Warm-water liquid cooling changes that: with the facility loop at 49–55 °C, heat can be rejected to air by fans alone, even in a hot Australian summer. Read more in our guide to data centre water use and liquid cooling in Australia.
The rating point is what makes this work. TC-DC1000 is rated at 40 °C ambient with 49 °C leaving glycol, a 9 K approach. Many dry coolers are rated at 25–30 °C and lose capacity on the hottest days; ask for a selection at your site's design dry-bulb, particularly for inland sites.

What glycol temperature can TC-DC1000 hold at other ambient temperatures?
At the rated flows, fan speed and a 1000 kW load, the leaving glycol stays about 9 K above outdoor air. Use this table to check the supply temperature you can deliver to the CDU in your climate:
| Ambient air | Glycol in → out at 1000 kW | Approach |
|---|---|---|
| 10 °C | 25 °C → 19 °C | 9 K |
| 15 °C | 30 °C → 24 °C | 9 K |
| 20 °C | 35 °C → 29 °C | 9 K |
| 25 °C | 40 °C → 34 °C | 9 K |
| 30 °C | 45 °C → 39 °C | 9 K |
| 35 °C | 50 °C → 44 °C | 9 K |
| 40 °C | 55 °C → 49 °C | 9 K |
Calculated from the rated point (40 °C air, 55/49 °C, 162 m³/h, 300,000 m³/h) assuming constant heat-exchanger effectiveness, flows and fluid properties. These are calculated values, not test data; the final selection is confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions
What does a dry cooler do for an Australian data centre?
A dry cooler rejects the heat from a liquid-cooled data centre's facility loop to outdoor air through finned coils and fans. It uses no evaporative water, which removes cooling-tower makeup water and water treatment from the site.
Will TC-DC1000 hold capacity in an Australian summer?
TC-DC1000 is rated at 40 °C ambient: it rejects 1000 kW class duty from a 55 °C to 49 °C glycol loop. For sites whose design dry-bulb is above 40 °C, we run a selection at the actual design point before quoting.
Is the power supply suitable for Australia and New Zealand?
The specification reference is 415 V / 3Ph / N / PE. Frequency and voltage for an AU or NZ site (400–415 V, 50 Hz) are configured per project and confirmed at quotation.
Is TC-DC1000 standard or custom?
It is a standard model supplied to its datasheet. Coil, fan, power and control options can be customised, and lead time is confirmed at quotation.
How is it different from TC-DCU-1000?
TC-DCU-1000 is rated at 30 °C inlet air with PG40 in a 6600 mm frame. TC-DC1000 is rated at 40 °C ambient with a 55 / 49 °C EG30 loop in a 4700 mm frame, which suits hot Australian summers and warm-water liquid cooling.
